Shortly after David Abbott moves into his new San Francisco digs, he has an unwelcome visitor on his hands: winsome Elizabeth Masterson, who asserts that the apartment is hers -- and promptly vanishes. When she starts appearing and disappearing at will, David thinks she's a ghost, while Elizabeth is convinced she's alive.

What critics compared Just Like Heaven to
(CNN) -- "Just Like Heaven" could draw comparisons to the wildly successful 1990 film "Ghost."
From here, the script follows the conventions of the traditional Hollywood supernatural romance -- from "Blithe Spirit" to "Portrait of Jennie" to "Ghost."
The movie is like a lot of things - such as similarly themed films "High Spirits," "Ghost" and "City of Angels" - but heaven isn't one of them.
The premise is a high-concept reimagining of Ghost, though director Mark Waters aims more for slapstick than mawkish sentiment.

Just Like Heaven tries to be an unholy union of Ghost and All of Me, and the result is rarely humorous, rarely romantic, and rarely affecting.
Make it a DIY double feature with Ruffalo’s 13 Going on 30 or Just Like Heaven.
Making the most lasting impression, however, is 13-year-old Kerris Dorsey (2005's " Just Like Heaven "), an unaffected, endearing scene-stealer as Billy's daughter Casey.
But mostly Ghost Town feels full of safe choices and conventional moves, rendering it a future bundled-DVD companion of fellow apparitional rom-com piffle like 2005's Just Like Heaven.
