What critics compared The Kite Runner to
Then again, this is Forster's fifth or sixth film compared to "Atonement" being Wright's second feature after 2005's "Pride & Prejudice."
The protagonists of this as-it-happens documentary are a secular young man named Ahmed, a Muslim Brotherhood member named Magdy, and a celebrity human-rights activist, Khalid Abdalla, who appeared in the film The Kite Runner.
But wonder of wonders, director Sam Mendes ( American Beauty , The Kite Runner , Skyfall) has managed to use mostly unknown leads to take us on an incredible slog through the trenches of World War I, and keep us in riveted and amazed suspense through the entire journey.
Watching "The Book Thief," it was hard to get memories of the film "The Kite Runner" out of my mind.
