On the way to meet with an independent artist in the South, newlywed art dealer Madeleine is convinced by her husband, George, that they should stop to meet his family in North Carolina. Madeleine's affluent lifestyle clashes with the family, but she befriends George's wide-eyed and pregnant sister-in-law, Ashley, who is nearing her due date. Through the family, Madeleine gains greater insight into George's character.

What critics compared Junebug to
She played the pregnant hometown girl in "Junebug," as well as the nurse with the braces in "Catch Me If You Can," and the way she combines irrepressible high spirits with slyly subversive comic wiles in "Enchanted," she's every Disney princess in one ebullient package.
"Enchanted" squeaks by on the charm of its performers, particularly Adams, who played another version of the daffy Giselle in "Junebug," for which she earned an Oscar nomination.
While Oscar nominated for her turn in Junebug (how many remember her…or the film?), she is simply astounding here.
Enchanted's most obvious asset is Amy Adams, who is probably best known for her scene-stealing work in Junebug .

Adams, who was so winning and so effervescent in both the Oscar-nominated movies "Junebug" (2005) and "Enchanted" (2007), can't do anything with the material she's being given.
As engaged as she was in Junebug, Enchanted, and Sunshine Cleaning, that's how disconnected she is here.

Elderly engineer Ted Crawford (Anthony Hopkins) is on trial for the attempted murder of his wife, Jennifer (Embeth Davidtz, "Junebug"), in their Southern California luxury home.
Strathairn isn't bad as the boss who knows he can't stop his star employee from leaving but has to push him to take Crawford's case seriously, but it's a shame that a talented actress like Embeth Davis ("Junebug") is wasted in a role that has her lying in a coma for the entire movie.
Leslie Bibb is all she should be as Ricky's glossy blond trophy wife, Carley; Jane Lynch stands up for comic sanity as Ricky's hardscrabble mom, Lucy Bobby; and Amy Adams, in a departure from "Junebug," plays Ricky's loyal assistant Susan.
For my money, the most energetic comedic moment comes not from Ferrell but from Amy Adams (Junebug).
And a surprising pep talk by Oscar-nominee Amy Adams ( Junebug ), who portrays Rickys shy assistant, is a real show-stopper.
For me the biggest revelation here was Amy Adams, whose been good in movies like Junebug, but never funny.

Her work in Short Term 12 should get her noticed in much the same way that Amy Adams turned heads for Junebug , Jennifer Lawrence escaped relative obscurity with Winter's Bone , and Elizabeth Olsen showed her talent in Martha Marcy May Marlene .
