What critics compared The Heartbreak Kid to
Directed by Nicholas Stoller (writer of 2005's " Fun with Dick and Jane ," making his helming debut) and written by lead actor Jason Segel, "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" unavoidably reminds of 2007's " The Heartbreak Kid ," a mean-spirited turkey that also happened to be a bawdy romantic comedy set in an exotic locale.
Stoller isn't mean-spirited in the way that the Farrelly brothers were in a similar set-up, the dreadful remake of "The Heartbreak Kid" with Ben Stiller.
The only relatable angst here is that this movie is only marginally better than Ben Stiller’s remake of “The Heartbreak Kid.”
But it’s Malin Akerman as the wife from Hell who ultimately steals the show, delivering the best psycho chick performance since Isla Fisher in “Wedding Crashers" and channeling the same happy-go-lucky charisma that made Cameron Diaz a star.
Some of the greatest of all comedies (Elaine May’s A New Leaf and The Heartbreak Kid or Billy Wilder’s The Apartment and Some Like It Hot) feature people behaving despicably, all without any cost to our enjoyment.
In a small but not easily forgotten turn, Lorna Scott (2007's " The Heartbreak Kid ") is an equally scary and humorous force of nature as Janice, Wesley's boss from hell.A tale of a man who learns to embrace life instead of letting it pass him by, "Wanted" is unorthodox rather than formulaic in its treatment.
