Cry_Wolf (2005)

After a local woman is murdered, a group of teenage liars create a warning e-mail of a serial killer named “The Wolf”, coming on the next full moon. The teens describe each death method The Wolf uses, but when the described victims actually do start turning up dead, suddenly no one knows where the lies end and the truth begins.

What critics compared Cry_Wolf to
Take away the fact that the screenplay by Chris Hauty is merely a crude photocopy of the classic wuss underdog story “Karate Kid,” and all that’s left behind are a variety of pretty boy actors who couldn’t emote realistically even if held at gunpoint, and hacky, trendy stylistic choices made by director Jeff Wadlow (“Cry_Wolf”) that bury the rest of the film in suffocating gloss.
Director Jeff Wadlow ( "Cry_Wolf" ) fills the party scenes with boobful girls, at one point showing a couple of them making out in a hot tub pretty much just so guys in the audience will hoot.
Never Back Down is good-looking, directed by Jeff Wadlow (whose Cry_Wolf was seemingly attractive and vapid, though considerably more entertaining) with a restless camera and a lot of flashy cutting.
Directed by Jeff Wadlow ( Cry_Wolf , Kick-Ass 2 ) from a screenplay credited to him and three other people, the film is meant to be a creepy Twilight Zone sort of thing rather than outright “scary”; then, for some reason, it’s also a soapy melodrama with a love triangle.
Wasting a somewhat decent idea and squandering any sort of potential this supernatural mishmash of Final Destination , Jumanji and It Follows might have had, director Jeff Wadlow ( Kick-Ass 2 , Cry_Wolf ) and his trio of fellow screenwriters instead have come up with an absolutely worthless piece of horror idiocy that grows increasingly tiresome as it goes along.
