What critics compared 2 Fast 2 Furious to
The second movie (the egregiously titled 2 Fast 2 Furious) kept only Paul Walker from the original 2001 flick while adding newcomer Tyrese Gibson into the mix.
While 2 Fast 2 Furious showed O’Conner could survive without Toretto, the reverse has not yet been proven.
Diesel was not impressed by the film , and was replaced in the sequel (“2 Fast 2 Furious”) by Tyrese Gibson and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges.
He proves this truism with a daredevil car chase through the streets of Rome that impresses, though not as much as comparable car chases in any number of current Korean action films, which, to me, have cornered the market on vehicular mayhem, 2 Fast 2 Furious notwithstanding.
It is a series that seems to suck the life force out of good directors, first John Singleton in "2 Fast 2 Furious," and now Justin Lin, whose debut film "Better Luck Tomorrow" was excellent.
White Bread Walker got to bust, in order, blacks, Hispanics, and Asians, but when it came to the ethnically ambiguous Vin Diesel, though, Walker must have been thrown out of whack; he let Vin drive off (straight to the set of XXX), and lost his badge.
(Diesel reportedly backed out of 2 Fast 2 Furious because its production schedule conflicted with that of XXX.
