What critics compared Blood Work to
This is the second adaptation of a novel by prolific crime fiction writer Michael Connelly, after the rather bland and routine Blood Work, starring Clint Eastwood.
Screenwriter John Romano takes a few liberties in the crossover, mostly pruning down the action to make it more manageable on screen, but he keeps the essence of Connelly’s thriller without going so far astray as screenwriter Brian Helgeland did in Clint Eastwood’s version of Connelly’s Blood Work.
Though it'll never be compared with earlier Eastwood thrillers like In the Line of Fire and the Dirty Harry series, Blood Work is nonetheless an effective and surprising police drama revolving around his character's efforts at solving a brutal case involving a serial killer.
