It fares the worst when contrasted with the original Swept Away, the controversial 1974 effort that earned writer/director Lina Wertmuller a Best Director Oscar Nomination.
In fact, the finished project is more akin to a mixture of Goldie Hawn's 1987 "Overboard" and Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew."
Back in the late 80s, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn trod similar terrain in "Overboard".
The original film had a passion and wit that called to mind "The Taming of the Shrew," in its story of a strong woman being taken in hand by a stronger man.
Beyond having seen that far too many times - whether it's Hanks in "Cast Away," Ford and Heche in "Six Days, Seven Nights" or even the gang on "Gilligan's Island - that segment brings nothing new beyond the unappealing, chauvinism of what follows.
