San Francisco's premiere wedding planner, Mary Fiore is rescued from an accident by the man of her dreams, pediatrician Steve Edison, only to find he is the fiancé of her latest client. As Mary continues making their wedding arrangements, she and Steve are put into a string of uncomfortable situations that force them to face their mutual attraction.

But that's too much to ask from an autopilot movie crafted by Anne Fletcher, whose resume includes 27 Dresses (which she directed) and The Wedding Planner (which she associate produced).
Shankman ( The Wedding Planner ) has spent most of his career as a choreographer of films that would hardly appear to need them ( Mission to Mars , The Flintstones ).
In 2002, his only previous feature was The Wedding Planner , a movie remembered by fondness with no-one that I have ever spoken to or heard of, and A Walk to Remember is almost top-to-bottom a movie made by a bit of a stylistic incompetent.
Adapted from the novel by Nicholas Sparks by Adam Shankman (The Wedding Planner) and marketed for Christian audiences, A Walk To Remember requires a different kind of suspension of disbelief.
West and Moore rise to the challenge their roles demand under the committed direction of Adam Shankman, who works well with actors but needed to attend more closely to the energy level of both this movie and his first, "The Wedding Planner," which deftly teamed Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey.
This overdone plot device seems subtle compared with the traumatic and thoroughly unbelievable turn the movie takes in its final half-hour, though to be fair to director Adam Shankman ("The Wedding Planner"), he follows Sparks' best-selling book faithfully.
I don't know if author Nicholas Sparks intended his novel A Walk To Remember to be a long commercial for Christianity, but that seems to be the aim of director Adam Shankman ( The Wedding Planner ) and screenwriter Karen Janszen, who adapted Sparks's book into a screenplay.
