A factory worker in a dark, gray world assembles devices that promise happiness. In his spare time he tinkers to create something better, and finally succeeds in perfecting his invention, which allows people to see life through rose-colored glasses, but he has to pay a price for his success.

Unlike Rolland Emmerich and Dean Devilin in their 1998 fiasco, which diminished its GINO (Godzilla In Name Only) into nothing more than an over-sized lizard, director Gareth Edwards and screenwriter Max Borenstein realize that Godzilla’s power lies in his stature – not only physical but also metaphoric.
This is a film that achieves what some would have thought impossible taking Alejandro Amenabar's 1997 feature Open Your Eyes (Abre los Ojos) and reshaping it into a form even more obtuse and insufferable.
1999’s Humdrum (Peter Lord and Nick Park’s Oscar-nominated short), in which shadow puppets played with shadow puppets, had the same level of detail in character animation, whereas 1998’s More (Mark Osborne’s ( Dropping Out ) Oscar-nominated short) featured the same level of detail in claymation sets and lighting.
