Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998)

Directed by Jim Stenstrum

After going their separate ways, Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne, and Fred reunite to investigate the ghost of Moonscar the pirate on a haunted bayou island, but it turns out the swashbuckler's spirit isn't the only creepy character on the island. The sleuths also meet up with cat creatures and zombies... and it looks like for the first time in their lives, these ghouls might actually be real.

What critics compared Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island to

The Conjuring poster
I suppose it's possible to be shaken to the core by this movie — even if it's really not much more frightening than, say, The Flintstones Meet Rockula and Frankenstone or Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island — but ultimately, it's just one more recycled haunted-house yarn, albeit one that's modestly elevated by James Wan's relatively restrained direction and a roster of characters who are more levelheaded than the usual gang of idiots who populate films of this nature.

1. Scooby-Dooby-Doo: The famous talking dog is now a computer-generated character, voiced to perfection by Scott Innes, who’s been standing in for Don Messnick (the original voice of Scooby-Doo) since the 1998 direct-to-video cartoon Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island .
Scooby-Doo, the Hanna-Barbara animated cartoon series, ran intermittently from 1969 until the present day — first on CBS, and currently as a series of Warner Bros. straight -to-video movies (the first of these, Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island, is surprisingly well-conceived, even though its plot structure and philosophical divergences are remarkably similar to the live-action movie's).
