When the body of Army Capt. Elisabeth Campbell is found on a Georgia military base, two investigators, Warrant Officers Paul Brenner and Sara Sunhill, are ordered to solve her murder. What they uncover is anything but clear-cut. Unseemly details emerge about Campbell's life, leading to allegations of a possible military coverup of her death and the involvement of her father, Lt. Gen. Joseph Campbell.

What critics compared The General's Daughter to
Director Simon West (The General's Daughter) is intent on making this movie stand apart from other video game adaptations.
West is a serious contender for the Worst Living Film Director, with credits like Con Air, and The General's Daughter under his belt.
Director Simon West ("The General's Daughter") wisely lingers on the ridiculous plotline as little as possible, focusing his attention on a string of elaborate action sequences more notable for their frenetic pacing than their creative staging or originality.
It's not as offensive as "The General's Daughter", but it's ten times dumber and nowhere near as enjoyable as "Con Air".
Director Simon West rounds out a hat-trick of hack jobs after "Con Air" and "The General's Daughter" with an action movie that even Michael Bay would be ashamed of.
The big problem is that director Simon West ("The General's Daughter," "Con Air") doesn't know how to handle Jolie's breasts, all of the lifted material, or the overall film for that matter.
One couldn't throw a rock without hitting an airport-novel adaptation like Kiss the Girls or The General's Daughter, with a moody detective investigating a salacious crime.
Here the jelly spots are the skulls that go splooey each time we're treated to an Xbox -inspired M-rated kill shot.Let's not denigrate the term " action film" by applying it to the remake signed by director Simon West ("Con Air," "The General's Daughter").
On the downside, however, there's the sloppy direction by Simon West (Con Air, The General's Daughter Tomb Raider), who cut his teeth in the Jerry Bruckheimer school of filmmaking.
Foster, who’s brilliantly crazed in 2009’s Oscar-nominated “The Messenger” opposite Woody Harrelson, returns in another distraught role in “The Mechanic” for director Simon West (“Con Air,” “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider,” “The General’s Daughter”).
Simon West (director of "Con Air" and "The General's Daughter") has been off the big screen radar long enough to properly contemplate the slick little cinematic take-over that is "The Mechanic."
