What critics compared There's Something About Mary to
Instead of exhausting me with joke after joke, like There’s Something About Mary, Road Trip made me wait for every joke, and I dutifully anticipated each one.

Jim (Jason Biggs)’s storyline also borrows heavily from the Farrelly’s movies (mostly “There’s Something About Mary”) and various other teen flicks like “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”, but at least it’s hilarious.
Its most outlandish scenes do not surpass envelope-stretching sequences from 1998's There's Something About Mary and Happiness.
The film is likely to entertain teens who are already thinking about sex, and its gross-out humor will appeal to fans of There's Something About Mary.
I actually find this give-and-take treatment of sexual longing preferable to the single-minded fetishizing of the nearly perfect, underwear-clad girl-next-door-glimpsed-through-the-window endorsed by There's Something About Mary.

Green Book stars Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali in a story about a trip through the American South taken by Ali’s Dr. Don Shirley, an accomplished pianist, and Mortensen's Tony Vallelunga, a Bronx-based Italian-American with racial attitudes rooted in the 1950s.
Green Book is a big and promising departure for Peter Farrelly, co-writer and co-director (with brother Bobby) of raunch-fests including Dumb and Dumber, Me, Myself & Irene and There’s Something About Mary .
But pointing out that Mortensen and Ali are solid is what’s expected; the real surprise here is director Peter Farrelly, who’s best known for comedies like Dumb and Dumber and There’s Something About Mary.

Greg Mottola, who made the terrific Manhattan picaresque "The Daytrippers," directs "Superbad" with his characteristically light touch, even if it's used in the service of filthy sight gags, endless profanity and an inordinate obsession with bodily fluids (the ante started with the hair gel gag in "There's Something About Mary" has now been upped to menstrual blood).
The resulting discussion of male genital topography ("It looks like a division sign," offers Evan) is surely the most humorous since Ben Stiller zipped up prematurely in There's Something About Mary.
His thing is such that it causes him some physical discomfort in a long, drawn-out, unfunny “stuck junk” bit half adapted from “There’s Something About Mary.”
Imagine a version of the classic scene in There’s Something about Mary where Ben Stiller gets his penis stuck in his zipper except it’s in no way funny, and you have idea of the level Baywatch is operating at.
Ronnie’s penis incident pales in comparison to There’s Something About Mary because there’s no surprise.

A truly funny sex comedy, like There’s Something About Mary, doesn’t rely heavily on toilet humor or stretch a barely funny sight gag for too long.
Since American Pie and Farrelly brothers' hits such as There's Something About Mary, the pitfalls of love and sex have been steadily upstaged by the cinema of bodily embarrassment.

There’s lightning wit, meta self-awareness and Farrelly Bros. level (There’s Something About Mary) testicle humour that guarantee you’ll get your money’s worth.
And there's little doubt that a scene featuring a tarantula crawling up a teen's shorts will result in an exaggerated genitalia view that would make the Farrelly Brothers ("There's Something About Mary") proud.
