The reigning mood is obviously a knock-off of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead 2, and Peter Jackson's Braindead (aka Dead Alive) did the buckets-of-blood thing with even more style, no computer effects, and a sense of comic timing that From Dusk Till Dawn lacks completely.
This is the “Reservoir Dogs” with a twist of “Near Dark” set to the tune of “Assault on Precinct 13.”

About halfway through, this 1996 crime thriller turns into a gory vampire bloodbath a la The Evil Dead; the result is better than Rodriguez's Desperado, but there's a similar feeling of disassociation among the various elements.
