It's autumn in New York. Sam has broken up with his girlfriend and his father has recently died. World-weary and sloppy drunk, he finds temporary solace in the arms of Anna, a mysterious vampire who draws him away from his friends and into a web of addiction and madness.

What critics compared Habit to
Next door, neighbor Erik Harson's (filmmaker Larry Fessenden, "Habit") already found the body of his mutilated girlfriend with the bloody message "You're Next."
The success of "Sixth Sense" and to a lesser degree "Unbreakable" notwithstanding, Shyamalan actually has more in common with low-budget horror artist Larry Fessenden ("Habit," "Wendigo") than someone who might be working for producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
The first two, No Telling (1991) and Habit (1997), neither of which I've seen, are available on DVD.
Fessenden trumps himself with the third of his modern metaphor horror trilogy ("No Telling," "Habit").
