Trespass (1992)
Two Arkansas firemen, Vince and Don, get hold of a map that leads to a cache of stolen gold in an abandoned factory in East St. Louis. What they don't know is that the factory is on the turf of a local gang, who come by to execute one of their enemies. Vince sees the shooting, the gang spots Vince, and extended mayhem ensues. As Vince and Don try to escape, gang leader King James argues with his subordinate Savon about how to get rid of the trespassers.

What critics compared Trespass to
But to see the difference between using a setting for “color” and uniting it with content, you only need to look at Walter Hill’s Trespass (1992).
The 1992 Los Angeles riots following the acquittal of Rodney King's assailants led to Walter Hill's Looters being cancelled; it appeared later, renamed Trespass.
But the picture doesn't have the depth and raw mournfulness of one of Hill's best movies, 1992's "Trespass"; nor does it have much of the freewheeling style of another one of his great B movies, "The Warriors" (1979).
But like Hill's underestimated Trespass and Johnny Handsome or his lauded The Warriors, beneath the veneer of an expert, somewhat gritty film noir redux lurks a strong social conscience and a canny visual storyteller.
In its focus on its opposing forces, Undisputed is much like Hill's other films (most like those he's directed, like Hard Times or Trespass, though also related to the Alien series, which he's produced and co-written).
