Detective Scott Turner has three days left in the local police department before he moves to a bigger city to get some 'real' cases—not just misdemeanors. When Amos Reed is murdered, Scott sets himself on the case, but the closest thing to a witness to the murder is Reed's dog, Hooch, which Scott has to take care of—to avoid Hooch being 'put to sleep'.

The legacy is a long one: "Beverly Hills Cop," "Tango & Cash," "Starsky & Hutch," "48 Hrs.," "Men in Black," "Turner & Hooch," "Miami Vice."
It's a tried and true formula that's even resulted in a sub-genre where men are paired with man's best friend in flicks such as "Turner & Hooch" and "K-9."
Alone with his dog like Will Smith in “I Am Legend” (2017), Hanks combines the doggie daddy duties of “Turner & Hooch” (1989) with personified pals like Wilson the volleyball in “Cast Away” (2000).
I get it, and you’ll get no confirmation here regarding the ending of Finch and whether or not the canine bites it, but I can guarantee you this isn’t the Turner & Hooch (1989) sequel you’re fearing.
Which is a shame, because Hanks is no stranger to being the only human around, having been a memorably convincing scene partner opposite a destructive mastiff (“Turner & Hooch”) and an anthropomorphized volleyball (“Cast Away”).
