What critics compared Tales from the Crypt to
…it makes sense to render it into a horror concept, as Curry Barker’s second feature, Obsession, does. Granted, in a manner that is decidedly Tales from the Crypt-esque. Even the title itself, so unabashedly generic, is akin to a Tales from the Crypt episode name. In fact, Obsession is similar to a very specific episode of said series: “Loved to Death.” Which served as the premiere of season three in June of 1991.

…the premise of Obsession sounds very familiar to the memorable Loved to Death episode of Tales from the Crypt (check out the full series on DVD at Amazon) starring Andrew McCarthy and Mariel Hemingway.
Its this character arc and growth that makes Hokum feel like an extended episode of Tales From the Crypt…
