The Land Before Time (1988)

An orphaned brontosaurus named Littlefoot sets off in search of the legendary Great Valley. A land of lush vegetation where the dinosaurs can thrive and live in peace. Along the way he meets four other young dinosaurs, each one a different species, and they encounter several obstacles as they learn to work together in order to survive.

What critics compared The Land Before Time to
The prehistoric quest motif has been covered in animated movies like Dinosaur and The Land Before Time, while the ‘good-natured creatures as surrogate babysitters’ theme seems partially cribbed from 2001’s fantastic Monsters, Inc.
By the third movie in any kid vid franchise, you’re likely to be more The Land Before Time than Toy Story.
Basically, it’s a mashup of “The Flintstones” and “The Land Before Time.”
He largely succeeded (the schmaltzy sentimentality which would cloud his later works such as An American Tail and The Land before Time is the only drawback) with this story about a proud mouse who strikes up an unlikely friendship with the rat branch of Mensa.
His success was inconsistent, but at its finest moments The Land Before Time has moments of beauty to match anything in The Secret of NIMH or An American Tail.

Titan A.E.'s co-director Don Bluth is a former Disney animator who formed his own animation studio in the early 1980s and produced and directed films like The Secret of NIMH , An American Tail , and The Land Before Time .
Bluth and Goldman, who have staked out a reputation as a counter-Disney with films like "The Secret of NIMH" and "The Land Before Time" most notably and the excruciating "Rock-a-Doodle" least notably, aren't nearly so gifted or visionary.
While the production company founded by former Disney animator Don Bluth has turned out several notable films set in the past (An American Tail, The Land Before Time, Anastasia ), his newest opus, Titan A. E., takes place about a millennium from now.
Bluth, whose pictures include The Secret of NIMH, The Land Before Time, and All Dogs Go to Heaven, codirected the movie with Gary Goldman, and it's clear that he's trying to advance his technological artistry along with the times.
