What critics compared Prizzi's Honor to
Besson still hasn't taken full wing with this theme, the way John Huston did in Prizzi's Honor, but that was a comedy and Besson isn't a comedian.
But for folks who appreciated the dark humor of "Prizzi's Honor" and "Get Shorty," they'll find "Grosse Pointe" in that vein, only with a hipper cast, snappier dialogue and more slapstick-like violence.
The movie evokes such classics as “Married to the Mob,” “Goodfellas,” and “Prizzi’s Honor,” but it has a fizziness all its own and a pell-mell but lucid storytelling strategy that is one of the most impressive achievements in recent filmmaking.
From there, the film turns into a more action-filled, nastier but ultimately sexier spin on both "The War of the Roses" and "Prizzi's Honor."
After all, this isn't actually a black comedy like Prizzi's Honor or War of the Roses.
There's the grain of a good idea here, which has been explored in other, better movies like "Prizzi's Honor," but Liman and Kinberg seem less interested in story and character than in quick cuts, stunts and double entendres.

Then there's the fact that he also wants to prevent his ex-wife - nicely played by Angelica Huston ("The Golden Bowl," "Prizzi's Honor") - from remarrying.
