What critics say influenced Out of Africa
Like Lawrence of Arabia , Out of Africa is a story of time and place.
The primary difference between this movie and the best of Lean ( Lawrence of Arabia comes to mind) is one of depth and breadth.
Sydney Pollack has worked with Redford before - notably in another big-sky epic, "Jeremiah Johnson."
This is not one of director Sydney Pollack's ("The Way We Were"/"Sketches of Frank Gehry"/"Three Days of the Condor") better ventures, Oscar or not.
