The disc features the new retrospective documentary “Beautiful Streamers,” with new interviews with film actors Matthew Modine, Mitchell Lichtenstein and George Dzundza discussing working with the text, collaborating with the other actors and Altman’s working methods, which they all appreciated.
Writer-director Lichtenstein, best known for his central part in Robert Altman's 1983 film of David Rabe's "Streamers," straddles one line between earnestness and facetiousness and another between horror and satire, shifting and pivoting from one to the other.
Bonus: Lichtenstein got his start as an actor, with roles in films by Ang Lee (“The Wedding Banquet”) and Robert Altman (“Streamers”) and even an episode of “Cheers.”
It’s Lichtenstein’s first feature, but he’s no stranger to the film world, having played the gay love interest Simon in Ang Lee’s charming 1993 romantic comedy The Wedding Banquet, as well as gay soldier Richie in the 1983 drama Streamers.
