The Soviets have developed a revolutionary new jet fighter, called 'Firefox'. Worried that the jet will be used as a first-strike weapon—as there are rumours that it is undetectable by radar—the British send ex-Vietnam War pilot, Mitchell Gant on a covert mission into the Soviet Union to steal the Firefox.

What critics compared Firefox to
Rather than victims of Vietnam, Iraq or Somalia, however, Fuqua ("Training Day," "Bait") and screenwriters Alex Lasker ("Beyond Rangoon," "Firefox") and Patrick Cirillo ("The Surgeon," "Homer & Eddie") have set their tale of bravery and sacrifice in the jungles of Nigeria.
If only Fuqua and screenwriters Alex Lasker (Firefox) and Patrick Cirillo (Homer and Eddie) trusted themselves a bit more.
(The only films that even resemble sci-fi in Clint's canon—Firefox and Space Cowboys —are about a Vietnam vet and a space-race leftover, respectively.)
