Farmer Vincent Smith and his sister Ida run a motel attached to a farm where they capture unsuspecting travelers, bury them alive, fatten them up and then harvest their bodies as ingredients for his famous brand of "smoked meats."

What critics compared Motel Hell to
Was "Green Room" inspired by an episode in 1980's "Motel Hell," in which a van of punk rockers is run off the road so the members of Ivan and the Terribles can join the "all kinds of critters" found in "Farmer Vincent's fritters"?
The script, written by West, knows its nostalgic influences thoroughly, evoking low-brow classics such as “Motel Hell,” “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre,” and even the not-so-classic “I Spit on Your Grave.”
There have been funny iterations too, like “Motel Hell” and “Eating Raoul.”
Worse, the episode in which he’s half-buried and stuffed—which might remind dyed-in-the-wool horror devotees of Rory Calhoun’s 1980 cult classic “Motel Hell”—is more disgusting than funny.
