What critics compared Cactus Flower to
"Jack and Jill," the latest product from Adam Sandler's Happy Madison production company that features him playing both an ordinary family man and his ultra-obnoxious twin sister, is currently rocking a whopping 4% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, only a mere 87 percentage points behind "The Descendants," and has accumulate a collection of reviews that, save for the rave from the generally contrarian Armond White, so punishingly negative that they have achieved the seemingly impossible task of making "Just Go with It," his indescribably awful remake of "Cactus Flower" with Jennifer Aniston, into his artistic high point of 2011 by default.
Stephen Whitty's Review: TWO STARS Based loosely on the old movie “Cactus Flower” (itself based loosely on an old play), it’s the story of a swinging doctor who keeps commitment-crazy women at arm’s length by pretending to be married.
Worse, consider that this lazy comedy is a remake of 1969's Cactus Flower - a fizzy concoction starring Walter Matthau, Ingrid Bergman, and Goldie Hawn, who won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her efforts - and be prepared to pick your jaw up off the floor, as I did, when another Oscar winner, Nicole Kidman, shows up playing fourth fiddle to Aniston.
In Cactus Flower, Walter Matthau (playing a dentist, but that profession doesn't allow breast jokes) lied about marriage to only one woman — Oscar winner Goldie Hawn — as a defense mechanism against commitment, not a predatory ploy.
"Just Go with It" is a remake of 1969's Walter Matthau-Ingrid Bergman-Goldie Hawn screwball comedy "Cactus Flower," itself based on a 1965 Broadway show by Abe Burrows that was adapted from the French play "Fleur de cactus" by Pierre Barillet and Jean-Pierre Gredy (phew!).

If you’re starting to acquire a sense of deja vu it’s because deep down somewhere inside “Just Go With It” is an attempt by director Dennis Dugan (a Sandler regular) to remake “Cactus Flower,” the 1969 comedy in which Walter Matthau portrayed a womanizing dentist, Ingrid Bergman his matronly assistant and an Oscar-winning Goldie Hawn as the geezer’s barely legal fiancée.
