The reclusive Dr. Zorba has died and left his sprawling mansion to his nephew Cyrus and his family. They will need to search the house to find the doctor's fortune, but along with the property itself, they have also inherited the occultist's collection of thirteen ghosts.

There’s something faintly disappointing about the way that Flanagan turns the indefinable terrors of the Overlook into a mashup of 13 Ghosts (1960), The Amityville Horror (1979) and American Horror Story: Murder House (2011).
It can't be an accident that Crimson Peak is suffused in blue and red filters like William Castle's 13 Ghosts: del Toro is one step removed from handing out "Illusion-O" viewers so that people can choose not to look at his bright red phantoms.
