This is the closest thing to Tommy Wiseau’s The Room that comic book films have.
Maybe as Germain Lussier over at io9 suggests, this will be a movie like "The Room" that people will want to watch over and over again for the experience.
The pair are not helped by sycophantic, hackneyed direction and writing during this time, which includes overly dramatic, tawdry back-stories, swells of emotional music and even a sex scene montage that feels like it's been ripped straight from The Room.
He incorporates himself into her corporate existence as life coach Toni Erdmann, wearing a suit and shaggy wig that make him look unsettlingly like Tommy Wiseau from The Room, which is surely unintentional (but adds another layer of meaning for those in the know).
The character you “play” is Henry, first in a line of tricked-out cyborg warriors developed by the villainous Azan (Danila Kozlovsky, who seems like a platinum-blonde version of Tommy Wiseau from “The Room”.) Henry and his scientist wife Estelle (Haley Bennett) escape Azan’s lab — which happens to be flying about 10,000 feet above Moscow.
Of course, Tommy Wiseau also wore multiple hats for “The Room,” so it doesn’t always work out, but still.
-One of the climactic shots of Annabelle is, I kid you not, staged almost exactly the same way as an analogous scene from The Room.
She also engages in a flirtation with her mentor Dimitri, played by an actor (Danila Kozlovsky) who seems to have watched Tommy Wiseau in “The Room” and said, “Now that’s acting!”
If Sucker Punch was truly an inventively deranged and carefree film then it could have been silly fun, but it takes itself seriously and arguing otherwise sounds like Tommy Wiseau’s retrospective claims that The Room was really meant to be a black comedy all along.

Ross Morin, a film professor at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, dubbed The Room “The Citizen Kane of bad movies” but in my opinion that’s not giving the film’s author, director and lead enough credit.
He looks like Megan Fox if she’d taken a sip from the wrong grail at the climax of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, only for someone to knock the cup from her hand before she could swallow the lot and decay to nothing.
