Made with Jimmy Wang Yu's cooperation (fans will know Jimmy as the director/star of the classic “Master of the Flying Guillotine” and such early Jackie Chan vehicles as “The Killer Meteors” and “Fantasy Mission Force”), “Kung Pow” is very much an affectionate spoof, an homage that pokes fun while confessing fondness--not necessarily a recipe for great comedy, but an approach which the film's small but specific target audience is sure to appreciate.

The jokiness of the choreography mixes Bruce Lee’s The Chinese Connection with Michael Kidd’s Seven Brides for Seven Brothers .
However, despite those major flaws, for the western audiences, the story narrative is easier to follow through compared to his earlier films like "The Big Boss", "Fist of Fury" and "Way of the Dragon".
Today, it remains a one of the most revered martial arts films ever made, but for as much of an impact as it and Lee's prior movies The Big Boss , Fist of Fury , and The Way of the Dragon would have, everything points to Game of Death being remembered as Lee's biggest masterpiece if he'd been able to fully realize it.
