Kind of reminiscent of "River's Edge", except that was a really good movie.
But this is a breakout film for one of Britain’s most gifted and under-utilized actors, and if it’s to be remembered for anything, it will be as the Romper Stomper to a next generation’s Russell Crowe.
With its woozy widescreen Steadicam aesthetic and prowlingly squishy score (composer Rich Vreeland giving Cold in July’s Jeff Grace a retro run for his money), It Follows seems at times to be stalking the ghost of Halloween’s killer, Michael Myers, albeit with the post- Scream knowingness of Geoffrey Wright’s sardonic Cherry Falls .
Like its controversial predecessors, the Australian "Romper Stomper," a film that thrust Russell Crowe into the limelight, and "American History X," which solidified Edward Norton's career, "The Believer" deals with neo-Nazism and anti-Semitic issues.
Lo dicho, una propuesta absolutamente bizarra (dos highlights: una pizza sin piernas, y un chicle en silla de ruedas con una pila que resulta ser un trasunto de Stephen Hawking), que presenta un crescendo de humor gamberro y un desvarío que concluyen en uno de los clímax finales más pasados de vueltas de cine reciente (les doy una pista, piensen en Cherry Falls).
