Virtually every review of Sleepover thus far has compared the film to John Hughes' Ferris Bueller's Day Off, which isn't that far off base.
The latter two are respectively played by Aimee Teegarden and Johnny Depp wannabe Thomas McDonell, and that their respective appearances so closely recall those of Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger in Disney's own 10 Things I Hate About You is the icing on just how recycled the whole affair is.

The notion of making a college-set comedy that tackles patriarchal norms among students sounds intriguing until one realizes that this film is even less progressive than such similar efforts as 2007's Sydney White and 2008's The House Bunny.
The “start our own” thing idea was stolen from an Amanda Bynes comedy, “Sydney White.”
