That style can work well when used sparingly (like Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken's scene in "True Romance"), but when used in every scene, the conversations seem to occur in an airless vacuum.
They’re the older Clarence and Alabama from True Romance, or Ruth and Bob from Ain’t Them Bodies Saints but with a lot less blood on their hands.
As an eternally angelic waif, the script gives Lilly little room to move simultaneously through the murky martyrdom of her romantic predicament and her impending end, especially as she’s about as maudlin as Rosario Dawson in Seven Pounds (2008).
The setup from director/co-screenwriter Aharon Keshales and co-writers Kai Mark and Navot Papushado ( Gunpowder Milkshake ) seems like it will follow the format of films like The Notebook and A Walk to Remember .
All that said, if Israeli B-movie maker Navot Papushado (“Rabies,” “Big Bad Wolves”) had kept this thing on its feet and sprinting — fewer pauses for motherly pathos, Spaghetti Western face-offs, etc. — “Milkshake” would have gone down easier, no matter how much gunpowder was used.

Papushado, best known for his more horror-centric outings like “Rabies” and “Big Bad Wolves,” seamlessly transfers his more lethal inclinations to pure action.
