Buzz, once again, gets plunged into delusion and strangeness (in a device similar to one Danny Kaye mined for comedic gold in 1955's " The Court Jester ," this time around) by his very nature as a toy.
There are cutaways to Louis watering plants in his apartment, ironing from his sofa, cracking up at something Danny Kaye does in The Court Jester , which is playing on Louis’s little TV.
Rob Reiner’s great cult classic The Princess Bride is one of those rare satiric gems, like The Court Jester and Galaxy Quest , that doesn’t just send up a genre, but honors it at the same time, giving us the excitement and pleasure of the real thing as well as the laughs of a comedy.
