Anthropomorphization is tricky territory although, God knows, Disney has lots of anodyne experience going all the way back to that cheery little mouse who first appeared in Steamboat Willie in 1928.
Disney has traded in anthropomorphic animals all the way back to its origins with the “Alice Comedies,” Oswald the Rabbit, and “Steamboat Willie.”
Just possibly—certainly the bit where he imitates the skull from Disney’s 1929 The Skeleton Dance (seen earlier on TV in the movie) is meant to be funny.
But it’s important to note that, contrary to what you may have heard, “Turning Red” isn’t “about” a girl getting her first period any more than “Steamboat Willie” is “about” a mouse that wears pants.
In particular, you'll notice that much of the rigidity prone to stop motion films is gone with the exception of the skeletons gleefully performing "The Skeleton Dance" in unbending fervor.
