It's a Wonderful Life poster
They’re not wrong, we do deserve our own “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

Even if you’re like me and prefer when they’re Die Hard , as opposed to It’s a Wonderful Life , this will do the trick.

The Birdcage poster
And while the nuts and bolts of the plot are obviously similar to Mike Nichols‘ The Birdcage update, having its central focus be the family its leads don’t think will understand rather than the one being asked to hide for their benefit does provide a few new wrinkles.
Take “La Cage aux Folles” (or its perhaps better known American remake “The Birdcage”) and slap some tinsel on it and you’ve got “Happiest Season,” minus most of the laughs.

The Unbearable Lightness of Being poster
That’s impressive, given that this very serious dialogue occurs not that long after Peter correctly guesses The Unbearable Lightness Of Being in a game of charades, based solely on two seconds of Ruby imitating a bear.
When she imitates a vicious animal, he quickly surmises the five-word answer is, “ The Unbearable Lightness of Being .”

The Holiday poster
In fact, it will likely join the ranks of modern classics like The Holiday , Love Actually , and The Family Stone in terms of yearly rewatchability.

It’s a feature that’d fit snugly alongside the likes of Meet the Parents and The Holiday, a quick gay interlude amid the usual reams of hetero family drama.

Together poster
…likely to spur the heterosexual equivalent of the discourse around the end of Happiest Season…

Arthur Christmas poster
There’s a genuine re-watchable factor to the flick, and it’s certainly one of the better modern Christmas films alongside The Christmas Chronicles and Arthur Christmas .

But I'm a Cheerleader poster
This first feature directed by actress Clea DuVall does get a bit of a cultish lift from the fact that her cast features three key players from 1999’s gay-themed “But I’m a Cheerleader”— Melanie Lynskey , Natasha Lyonne and DuVall herself.

The Intervention stars Natasha Lyonne, Melanie Lynskey, and DuVall, bringing a But I’m A Cheerleader reunion to the screen, and also adds Cobie Smulders and Jason Ritter, among others.
There’s Jessie (Duvall) and her age-appropriate girlfriend, Sarah (Natasha Lyonne, reuniting with her girlfriend from But I’m a Cheerleader), and Jack (Ben Schwartz) and his age-inappropriate girlfriend, Lola (Alia Shawkat), all of whom stage an intervention on Peter and Ruby’s marriage during a weekend getaway.

That's all the connections!
