Borat is first glimpsed in his Slavic homeland, guiding the camera through a cheery tour of his inbred, cretinous, raping, whoring nation, practically a send-up of an Emir Kusturica circus (a musical cue from Time of the Gypsies clinches the deal later on); a documentary is being made, so Borat is sent to America with producer Azamat (Ken Davitian) by his side.
Gallo, an angular and unshaven man with a haunted look, has acted for offbeat and experimental directors such as Abel Ferrara (" The Funeral "), Bille August ("House of the Spirits"), Mika Kaurismaki ("L.A. Without a Map"), Emir Kusturica (" Arizona Dream "), Claire Denis ("Nenette and Boni"), Mira Nair (" The Perez Family ") and Kiefer Sutherland ("Truth or Consequences, N.M.").
"Buffalo '66" is the first movie directed by Vincent Gallo, a painter, former Calvin Klein model and actor in such films as "Truth or Consequences," "Arizona Dream" and "The Funeral."

No Man’s Land feels entirely too easy to deserve its comparison to Altman’s M*A*S*H and Kusturica’s Underground.
More positively, the film also plays out as a magical realist companion to Emir Kusturica’s towering parable Underground, which similarly challenged the way we watch movies.
