Skillfully and humanely handled by director Aisling Walsh, the film has more conviction than others in its family of films such as The Magdalene Sisters or Conspiracy of Silence and deserves to be seen.
With impressive acting and a powerful script, this is basically The Magdalene Sisters meets Dead Poets Society – it would be uplifting if it wasn’t so damn harrowing and depressing.
After dealing with the macho aggressions of his obnoxious brother-in-law Charlie (Billy MacLellan, "Maudie") at work the next day, then being told by Eddie that his offer to buy the business is ‘good’ but not ‘great,’ he goes to visit his own dad (Christopher Lloyd) at a senior living center, telling him the intruders were scared and desperate, the woman’s 38 empty.
